40th Annual Mineral Deposits Studies Group Meeting

Registration
Early bird registration rates for professionals, PhD students, and MSc students will apply until Friday 18th November and final registration will close on Friday 2nd December. Undergraduate registration will open on Monday 14th November. Registration fees include an Icebreaker Reception and a Conference Banquet in the Wills Memorial Building, lunches and teas on both conference days, an abstract volume, and a conference pack.

Abstracts
The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 18th November. Abstracts must be submitted via the link on the website using the template provided. Contributions are invited on any topic related to mineral deposits and are particularly welcome from PhD students wishing to report research in progress. We will give as many early career scientists as possible the opportunity to make oral presentations. Following the deadline, abstracts will be organised into sessions with a common theme.

Keynotes
Our keynote speakers this year include:
Richard Sillitoe, Consultant – Volcanoes and Porphyry Copper Deposits (a kick-off lecture before the Icebreaker)
Matthew Field, Amec Foster Wheeler – Kimberlite volcanology and diamond resource evaluation
Cam McCuaig, BHP Billiton – Zircon compositions as a pathfinder for porphyry deposits
Jeremy Richards, University of Alberta – Tectonomagmatic controls on arc metallogeny
Alison Rust, University of Bristol – Physics of volcanoes and ore deposits
John Thompson, Cornell University – Changing World – Changing Exploration
Frances Wall, Camborne School of Mines – Responsible sourcing of critical metals

Field trip and student networking events
The University of Bristol SEG Student Chapter is organising two events at the meeting:
(1) A pre-conference field trip to Dolaucothi Gold Mines in South Wales on Sunday 18th December.
(2) A student networking event on Monday 19th December.
