DESCRIPTION:Irish Association for Economic Geology (IAEG) lecture series continues on Tuesday 1st April online\, starting at 7pm with. Speakers will be Joseph Donoghue and Caroline Grant\, the first recipients of The David Hall Mineral Exploration Fund. \nThey will each give a presentation on their Student Mapping Projects. Joseph Donoghue will be talking on the topic of “Mapping the Geological History of the Cantabrian Zone” and the project location is Leon\, Spain. Caroline Grant’s talk will be about a Geological Survey of the Megara Basin with the project location of Corinth\, Greece. \nRegistration is open via the IAEG website: www.iaeg.ie/event-6117564. \nMore information on the talks and the David Hall Mineral Exploration Fund is also available at this link. DESCRIPTION:A GGA fieldtrip to the south-eastern Burren (Mullach Mór) takes place on Saturday 26th April\, 2025 (10am to about 4 pm). \nMeet at Gortlecka crossroads at 10 am (52.9967981N\, 9.0373889W; parking immediately to S of crossroads). Please note: car parking is limited so please take a lift if at all possible\, to reduce the number of cars & be kind to the environment. After car-pooling at the crossroads\, they intend travelling a short distance to the start point using a limited number of cars. \nIf you wish to participate\, please register no later than Tuesday\, 22nd April by emailing GGA (galwaygeology@gmail.com). Also\, please provide a mobile-phone contact number. Registration costs €20 / €10 (student) / €10 (member of GGA\, etc) (payable in advance or on the day). Fieldtrip leaders: Dr Eamon Doyle (Burren & Cliffs of Moher Geopark; geology) and Professor Michael O’Connell (PRU\, University of Galway; botany\, vegetation history).
