SUMMARY:UCD School of Earth Sciences Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:Autumn Semester 2025 – These will all be held between 1-2 pm on Wednesdays in E0.61\, O’Brien Science Centre\, with the exception of the final lecture to be held in a larger space (TBC). \nAll talks will also be streamed to Zoom at the recurring meeting link found on the flyer here. \nThere are a variety of Earthly and otherworldly\, applied and fundamental topics for you\, including inaugural lectures from two new SES Staff and a final SES Winter Lecture on planet formation and giant impacts. All are welcome. \nThe zoom link is at the top of the attached flyer and will remain the same every week. \nSave the flyer for future references as there will be no weekly reminders\, unless there is a change to the attached schedule.

SUMMARY:Royal Irish Academy event – Geography and Geosciences in the School Curriculum
DESCRIPTION:The Royal Irish Academy is pleased to be partnering with the Geographical Society of Ireland to host an evening panel event exploring geography and geosciences in the school curriculum. \nTaking place during Geography Awareness Week 2025\, on Wednesday\, 19 November 2025 at 6.00 p.m (Followed by reception at 7.30 p.m.) at the Royal Irish Academy\, 19 Dawson Street\, Dublin 2\, and online.  \nThe panel discussion aims to draw attention to the importance of geography and geosciences in evolving school curricula\, across primary\, post-primary and higher education\, and to highlight how these disciplines can support and enhance the renewed focus on education around climate action and sustainable development. \nThe event will be structured as a keynote delivered by Professor David Kaplan\, Kent State University\, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr Karen Keaveney\, President of the Geographical Society of Ireland. The panel includes\, among others\, IGI President\, Dr Siobhán Power of Geological Survey Ireland.\nPlease note: this is a hybrid event so you will be able to join us online or in-person in the Royal Irish Academy.
