SUMMARY:IGA Day Excursion
DESCRIPTION:The final Irish Geological Association (IGA) Day Excursion for 2022 will take place on Saturday 24th September. \nGordon Poole (FGS) will lead the Peter Lewis Memorial Gold Panning Day from 11am to 3pm at Bohernabreena\, Co. Dublin. \nBooking is now open for this fun and very popular excursion. \nPlease fill in booking form HERE . Registration is on a first come\, first served basis. Exact meeting location will be communicated to those registered closer to the date. If any difficulties accessing the form\, email info@geology.ie and full details are available on the IGA website www.geology.ie/events \n  \nAim of Excursion: Our event leader Gordon Poole has significant experience in a range of lithological settings through his geological postings around the world. Gordon will demonstrate the basics of panning for gold and each participant can try this technique out for themselves. We are most grateful to have Gordon to lead us. Many thanks are also due to our colleagues in the Geological Survey of Ireland\, particularly James Hodgson\, for supporting this event with the provision of gold panning equipment. \nGeneral Advice: To best enjoy this light-hearted gold panning event\, please wear wellington boots\, bring waterproof gloves and dress for the weather conditions. If you have a trowel or gold panning equipment of your own\, please bring it along. Public Transport is available to access this area. Car pooling is advised where possible as the nearest car park is small and busy.
