SUMMARY:IAEG Core Logging Course
DESCRIPTION:Join the Irish Association for Economic Geologists (IAEG) for their 2024 Core Logging Course hosted in the Lisheen Core facility. \nThe course will take place on Saturday the 19th of October from 09:30 to 16:30 at the Lisheen Core store\, near Thurles. Registration is required at: IAEG – IAEG Logging Course – 2024. \nThe course will be hosted by IAEG council members\, with presentations from Miller O’Prey and John Colthurst. \nThis course is suited to Earth Science students and early-career geologists looking for an introduction to the process of core logging. Course content includes best practices for gathering lithological\, structural and alteration information from core\, mineral estimation\, logistics of core handling and QAQC. \nCore logging is an invaluable and essential skill for any geologist and not something commonly taught during university courses\, this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience. \nThe cost is €20 for IAEG members\, €40 for student non-members* and €80 for non-members* (*This price includes membership of the IAEG).
