The event participants will walk from St. Audeon’s Church, down Dame St and through Trinity College to gain insights into changes in landscape and building stone use within the early city area from Viking times. Historical maps and illustrations will be presented. The historical value of the works of landscape artists in the 18th and 19th centuries will be highlighted.
Following Part 1, Lunch can be bring-your-own or in the National Gallery.
Part 2 : RHA Annual Exhibition: The RHA Annual Exhibition offers much to the geological enquiring mind. Many of Ireland’s leading Irish artists again exhibit works on which to base geological discussion on these works and on geology in art generally. Bill has selected some 20 works of particular interest. This is a great opportunity to engage with the works of leading Irish artists and seek out geological aspects within the works on show.
A number of 18th century Dublin landscapes can also be viewed in the National Gallery.
